New CBD Powder Shows Faster Absorption and Similar Safety
Source: CNS drugs
Summary
This study looked at two different forms of cannabidiol (CBD) to see how they are absorbed and how safe they are. The researchers compared a new powdered form called CBtru® with an existing oil-based product called Epidyolex®. The study involved healthy adults who received both products under different eating conditions—either after fasting or after eating.
The key findings showed that CBtru® was absorbed into the bloodstream faster than Epidyolex® when participants had not eaten. It also provided higher levels of CBD and its active metabolites, which are substances produced when the body processes CBD. However, when participants had eaten, both products showed similar absorption levels, but CBtru® still had a quicker absorption time. Both forms were well tolerated, meaning participants did not report any safety issues.
These findings are important because they suggest that CBtru® could be a promising new option for delivering CBD, potentially offering quicker effects and more consistent levels in the body. However, this study was done with healthy adults, so more research is needed to see how these formulations work in people with epilepsy or other conditions. Additionally, the study only looked at a single dose, so we don’t know how they would perform over longer periods or with different dosages.
